YLFT Recognition

YLFT program achievements in the housing community have been recognized:

  1. In 2000, the City of Durham honored the YLFT center as “Youth Program of the Year”
  2.  In 2002, four out of seven DHA academic awards were presented to YLFT students
  3. In 2003, the Cornwallis YLFT after school program was selected as a feature program for “’National HUD Week,”
  4. In May 2004, YLFT students posted a 100% pass rate on NC End-of-Grade reading testing, three times higher than 24% of other students in low income housing.
  5. In 2004 YLFT’s Teen Leadership Club gained recognition and funding as a successful intervention/prevention program by the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council.
